There are two types of letters in the Arabic alphabet: heavy ​​ and light.​​

Below, the green boxes show the heavy letters​​ and the blue ones show the light letters​​

The heavy letters​​ are pronounced with a full mouth, while the light letters​​ with a less open mouth.
